SAFEGUARDING POLICY

  1. PSD acknowledges its responsibility to safeguard the welfare of every child and young person who has been entrusted its care and is committed to working to provide a safe environment for all members. A child or young person is anyone under the age of 18 engaged in any activity. We subscribe to The Football Association’s child protection and best practice policy and procedures and endorse and adopt the policy statement contained in that document.

    Concerns about a child
    What to do if any member of staff or visiting adult has any concerns about any child/children.
  • The first action they must do is to make sure the child/children is safe and away from harm and danger.
  • They MUST report this concern to Primary Sports DSL Andy Dickie on either 07734 322353 or email [email protected],uk.
  • They must complete a concerns report form via the Primary Sports Attendance Portal. This will be doubled checked by Primary Sport DSL and then forwarded via email to the appropriate person or team. The DSL will follow this u with a phone call to again check the correct person/team have received the concern and to find out if any further information or action needs to be taken.
  • The DSL make sure the child/children are safe to leave the provision. If they are not the child/children will be kept at Primary Sports until the relative person or professional arrives with proof of ID to collect them. Primary Sports staff will be kept up to date with all information.
  • The DSL will follow up on the concerns with the correct person/team for further attendances for the child/children.
  • Staff will be made aware of the outcome of the concern once the details are made to the DSL.

    Concerns
     
    All concern raised will be taken seriously by all Primary Sports staff and every concern will be reported and dealt with appropriately. All concerns will be handled professionally, recorded and passed on the relation person/body and followed up to make sure the number 1 priority for Primary Sports is that “Every pupil is safe”.
    Concerns will be raised if-
  • A child tells an adult of a concern.
  • An adult raises a concern.
  • If an adult sees a concern that is not raised.
  • All concerns MUST be made to Primary Sports DSL-Andy Dickie-07734 322353 or the DDSL-Rosh Bhatti=07807 335080

    All these concerns are report via the Primary Sports Attendance Portal.
    All concerns are to be reported via the Primary Sports Attendance Portal even if a referral has been made to MASH or LADO
    All Primary Staff are expected to-
  • Listen to children
  • Be alert to signs and symptoms
  • Be proactive in responding to disclosures and when they spot signs of abuse  
  • Follow clear recording procedures so that we note everything that has happened  
  • Ensure that all concerns are shared with the safeguarding lead and the safeguarding lead will then make a decision based on the local area’s threshold document as to the right level of support for this child and their family by contacting the police and/or the local safeguarding service (e.g. MASH). Our staff will know to contact  999 if there is a risk of immediate significant harm. Where we feel it's not significant harm, but we feel they would benefit from support, we will ask staff to make a referral to MASH for that additional support
  • Write a report on Primary Sports Attendance Portal as soon as it happens or you hear it.
  • We expect members of staff to follow the organisation's Code of Conduct
  • We also have an allegations policy, complaints policy, and whistleblowing policy

    All concern are to be reported to the DSL-Andy Dickie and must be reported on Primary Sports Attendance Portal.

    If you have any concerns because you think that a child might be being abused and you want to talk to someone or ask someone to find out what is going on, you should contact Children’s Services:
  • 0300 555 1384 during office hours 8.30am to 5pm Monday to Thursday, 8.30am to 4.30pm on Friday
  • 0300 555 1373 at all other times to contact the Out of Hours service
  • LISTEN TO THE CHILDREN
  • Further advice on child protection matters can be obtained from:
  • • Develop a role profile
    • Request identification documents
    • As a minimum meet and chat with the applicant(s) and where possible conduct interviews before appointing
    • Request and follow up with two references before appointing
    • Require an DBS Unit Enhanced Disclosure where appropriate in line with FA guidelines. All current PSD members with direct access to children and young people will be required to complete an Enhanced Disclosure.
  • PSD supports The FA’s ‘whistle blowing’ policy. Any adult or young person with concerns about a colleague can ‘whistle blow’ by contacting The FA Child Protection Manager on 0207 745 4771, by writing to The FA Case Manager at The Football Association, 25 Soho Square, London W1D 4FA or by going direct to the police, social services or the NSPCC. Football Club encourages everyone to know about it and utilise it if necessary and the NSPCC Whistleblowing Advice Line on 0800 028 0285
  • PSD has appointed a Safeguarding Officer who has completion of the child protection and best practice workshop and safeguarding course. The post holder will be involved with designated person’s training provided by The FA. The Safeguarding Officer is the first point of contact for all PSD members and parents or guardians regarding concerns for the welfare of any child or young person. They will liaise directly with the CFA CPO and will be familiar with the procedures for referring any concerns. They will also play a proactive role in increasing an awareness of poor practice and abuse amongst PSD members.
  • We acknowledge and endorse The FA’s identification of bullying as a category of abuse. Bullying of any kind is not acceptable at our club. If bullying does occur, all players, parents or guardians should be able to tell and know that incidents will be dealt with promptly. Incidents need to be reported to the Safeguarding Officer.
  • Codes of conduct for players, parents or spectators, officials and coaches have been implemented by PSD.
  • • The child’s welfare is, and must always be, the paramount consideration. All children and young people have a right to be protected from abuse regardless of their age, gender, disability, culture, language, racial origin, religious beliefs or sexual orientation
    • All suspicions and allegations of abuse will be taken seriously and responded to swiftly and appropriately
    • Working in partnership with other organisations, children and young people and their parents or carers is essential. We acknowledge that every child or young person who plays or participates in football should be able to take part in an enjoyable and safe environment and be protected from poor practice and abuse. PSD recognises that this is the responsibility of every adult involved within PSD.
  • PSD has a role to play in safeguarding the welfare of all children and young people by protecting them from physical, sexual or emotional harm and from neglect or bullying. It is noted and accepted that The Football Association’s child protection regulation (see The FA Handbook) applies to everyone within PSD.
  • . We endorse and adopt The FA’s Child Protection and Best Practice Guidelines for Recruiting Employee’s, Volunteers and will:
Staff
 
At the start of each September all staff will undertake safeguarding training. This will be done through the NSPCC. Primary Sports will do all staff inhouse training on safeguarding. This training will cover-
  • 1) What is a concern?
2) When to report a concern?
3) Where and how to report to concern?
  • Staff will be given the safeguarding policy link or a paper copy will be made available if requested.
  • Staff will be given the link to complete the Government’s Prevent training. Proof of completion MUST be provided
  • Staff will be given the link to the Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) policy. The DSL will keep a record on who and when has read this policy.
  • Safeguarding and ALL policies with be review at the start of every September and passed on to all adults and staff once completed, if there a midyear update on any policy, staff will be notified as soon as the updated is completed.
  • Staff will be given links to both Pupil and Staff Code of Conduct and explained the importance of them. They will be expected to follow this from the 1st day working with Primary Sports
 
All staff and adults must have read the Keeping children safe in education (KCSIE) and to have completed the Government’s Prevent training at the start of each September.
All staff MUST follow the Staff code of Conduct. This is essential the staff at the setting set the standards for the children to follow.
All staff will have to be qualified in at least basic safeguarding training.
DSL will have additional training certificates. This training will at the NSPCC level required to be a DSL.
 
 
The main aim of this policy is to keep ALL CHILDREN safe and give the children a safe and comfortable space to improve learning
